"We call them dumb animals, and so they are, for they cannot tell us how they
feel, but they do not suffer less because they have no words"
This is a story about a horse named Black Beauty. The book is told from the perspective of the horse named Black Beauty. The themes in this book are to treat animals with respect and to be
nice to them. This book goes into extreme detail of the violence of ill treatment of horses. I learned a lot about how to take care of a horse and the breaking in of horses. The characters, horses and owners, were not well developed. The only developed character
was Black Beauty himself. I didn't really like the mention of God and felt like Sewell was trying to convert us. This is a great book for 13 year olds and up. This book has violence, alchol, smoking and abuse.
